Hi, my name is Russ and I am a senior at Binghamton University. I currently work in the Science Library and have been working here since my freshman year. Any student that is Federal Work Study eligible can apply for a position at any of the Binghamton University Libraries. Currently, all of the Science Library positions are filled and so are most of the Bartle Library positions. Nevertheless, there will be more positions available at both libraries in the coming fall semester. If you want a job at any of the Binghamton University Libraries apply quickly starting in August 2009 here. The job is fantastic and the supervising staff is extremely helpful. For those who have heard of the science library but do not know its location, it’s located opposite the Science I building. It’s much quieter and more cozier than other locations on campus providing an environment conducive to study. Now, for some Binghamton University Library Q & A.
1. I have to do research for a class, where can I find help?
You can always set up an appointment with any of the subject librarians. We have subject librarians in many areas and disciplines such as the Humanities and Fine Arts, the Social Sciences, Science & Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Departments and Programs. In addition, the library website also provides tutorials.
2. I would like to talk to a librarian, can this be done online?
Yes. You can instant message, text message or e-mail a librarian.
3. If I want to renew a book that I have borrowed from the Bartle Library, do I have to return it to the same library?
No. Any book can be returned to any library location. If you borrow a book from the Science Library, you can return it to the Bartle Library and vice-versa. If you borrowed a book from the Downtown Center, you can also return it to either Bartle or Science.
4. I would like to renew a book. Can this be done online?
Yes. Simply, visit the Library website here and click on infoLink at the top left. At the top right you should see ‘My Library Card’ which will prompt you to login using your PODS username and password. After you login, click on ‘Loans and Renewals’ which will allow you to renew all of your loans or selected books.
There will be more library tips on the next blog entry so stay tuned......
