Pappy Parker Players!

You know, this Friday was starting to look pretty boring for me. My roommate was heading home for the weekend, and I had nothing to look forward to but studying for my midterms. But, a friend on my floor invited me to go to a show by the “Pappy Parker Players.” They called it Laughtoberfest. While still trying to understand what the group name meant, my friend told me they were an improv/comedy group. I was a bit hesitant to go at first, simply because I really wanted to go to sleep. My friend insisted, and I’m glad he did. The Pappy Parker Players were absolutely AMAZING. The event was hosted at 8PM-10:30PM in Lecture Hall 1, and there were easily at least 200 members in the audience. Admission was only $3/student, and I must say it was well spent.

Their acts ranged from a cannibalistic-twist on Iron Chef, to complete mockery of Star Trek. I have never seen such impressive improv before; they came up with stuff that was so unbelievably random, and it was incredibly funny. What was especially cool was that the audience played a huge role in the skits – they would ask us for locations or ideas, and they would base their skit on that theme. Who knew you could throw together something involving a dating show, a woman who believes she’s a giraffe, Helen Keller, and Robin Williams from Jumanji?!

A WORD OF ADVICE: When you become a student at Binghamton, be sure to watch at least one show by the Pappy Parker Players! There’s a lot more to do on campus, as well…
