So, this past weekend Alpha Phi and Sigma Delta Tau put on one of the most fun philanthropy events we’ve had here through Binghamton Greek Life in a while. They had Powderpuff Football to help raise money for their national philanthropies, Cardiac Aid and Prevention Against Child Abuse. The six Panhellenic sororities, or those sororities recognized on campus through the National Panhellenic Council, all paired up with two fraternities from the Interfraternity Council who were used as both the quarterbacks and the cheerleaders- the rest of the players were the sorority girls.
The match ups were as follows:
Alpha Phi with Coaches Chi Phi and Phi Kappa Psi
Sigma Delta Tau with coaches Alpha Sigma Phi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Alpha Epsilon Phi with coaches Pi Lambda Phi and Delta Chi
Alpha Xi Delta with coaches Zeta Beta Tau and Theta Tau
Delta Phi Epsilon with coaches Theta Delta Chi and Zeta Psi
Phi Sigma Sigma with coaches Tau Epsilon Phi and Tau Kappa Epsilon
The tornament was single elimination and my sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, were the champions! We defeated Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Phi and eventually Alpha Xi Delta in overtime for the championship. The entire day was such a blast and I only hope this could be a tradition that is followed through for years to come for all of you to experience it! The Greek Community is so much more then the typical connotations that come with being Greek, the philanthropy events like AEPhi’s Greek God, DPhiE’s Date Auction and AZD’s Miss Aphrodiote really show that putting together an event for all of campus brings everyone together and for a great cause.
